35 - Mask

Maschera, oggetto misterioso e magico in grado di nascondere qualcuno o qualcosa, trasformandolo in altro.
Forse per questa sua potenzialità e versatilità affascinante la maschera ha accompagnato l’umanità in ogni angolo del mondo, dall’antichità fino ad oggi. Nelle cerimonie religiose di diverse popolazioni e comunità la vediamo comparire con la capacità di fare trasmigrare nella persona che la indossa l’identità del dio o dell’animale sacro rappresentati, concedendogli un corpo fisico e quindi capacità di azione concreta in questo mondo. Nell’uso funerario di molte civiltà viene appoggiata direttamente sul viso del defunto o nel luogo di
sepoltura, per mantenerne vivo il ricordo nel tempo o dare pace al suo spirito.

Mask, mysterious and magic object, capable tp hide someone or something, transforming it in something else.
Maybe for this fascinating potentiality the mask is at the side of the humankind in any part of the world, from the ancient since today. In the religious ceremonies of a lot of populations and communities we see the masks having the power to translate the identity of the represented god or animal inside the body of the one who wears it, giving to it a physical body hence the power to perform concrete actions in this world. In most civilization, during funerary cults, the mask is placed directly on the face of the dead, or in the grave place, to hold the memory of him or to give peace to his spirit.
